Movie star Richard Gere to auction off his guitar collection for charity

Did you know movie star Richard Gere has a huge guitar collection? 
It was announced yesterday that Richard Gere will be auctioning off a 110-strong guitar collection at Christine's in New York on October 11th to raise money for humanitarian causes worldwide.
The star of movies such as Chicago and Pretty Woman, has been building his collection for over 20 years, the spoke about his letting his collection go up for auction, "It’s more than a little painful to let them go. They have been my true friends through the best and worst of times. I didn’t plan to build a collection – I just bought ones I liked that sounded good and played well."
BBC News reports that the collection is expected to raise about $1 million (around £605,000) and will include his 1958 Gibson Flying V - originally owned by Albert King.
